BoundEUries: a new Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence begins at the IEE-ULB

Publié le 1 décembre 2025 Mis à jour le 1 décembre 2025

The Institute for European Studies of the Université libre de Bruxelles (IEE-ULB) is proud to announce the launch of Boundary- and Community-Making in the European Union (BoundEUries), our new Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence for the period 2025–2028.

This designation reflects both international recognition and renewed support for the IEE’s mission to advance research, foster innovative teaching, and stimulate informed public debate on European affairs.

BoundEUries examines how communities and boundaries are shaped within the EU’s governance of transnational challenges, including climate change, migration, fundamental rights, and technological innovation. By combining the study of political narratives with the analysis of policy instruments, the project offers an interdisciplinary space where academics, students, policymakers, journalists, and artists can rethink and re-narrate European politics.

As of 1 December 2025, the project officially enters into force. Activities, events, and collaborations will unfold progressively over the coming months.
