The administration and decision-making bodies of the IEE-ULB 

The academic, scientific and administrative management of the IEE is traditionally carried out by an interdisciplinary duo for a two-year term, renewable once.

The current team, elected in 2023 and reappointed for the period 2025-2027, is composed of François Foret (President, political scientist) and Chloé Brière (Director, lawyer). They are assisted by Emmi Kallio, Executive Manager and Head of Communications.

The governance of the IEE-ULB is structured around three decision-making bodies: the IEE-ULB Council, the Strategic Council and the Research Committee. 
 

1. The IEE-ULB Council

It oversees general affairs and teaching matters. It defines the internal rules and regulations.  
The Council is composed of :

  • The President 
  • The Director 
  • The Deans of the three partner faculties 
  • Members of the academic staff affiliated with the IEE and/or teaching in one of the programmes organised under the IEE label 
  • Representatives of the scientific community 
  • One representative of the administrative staff 
  • Three student representatives (Master in European Studies, Advanced Master in EU Interdisciplinary Studies, Advanced Master in European Law) 
  • The Executive Manager and Head of Communications  

2. The Strategic Council

The Strategic Council is an expanded version of the IEE Council. It meets at least once a year and invites leading figures from the community of professionals specialising in European affairs. The members of the Strategic Council support our interdisciplinary teaching and research in European studies. 

3. The Research Committee

The Research Committee presents research guidelines to the IEE Council. It sets the scientific agenda and encourages new interdisciplinary projects. It coordinates the management of research in European studies at the ULB. 

It comprises: 

  • The Chair 
  • The Director 
  • The Research Logistician at the IEE-ULB 
  • Members of the academic and scientific staff affiliated with the IEE-ULB  
  • ​​​​​​​Scientific collaborators affiliated with the IEE-ULB
