Policy Briefs: Debates on the Future of Europe 2025–2026

Published on July 7, 2026 Updated on July 7, 2026

As part of the Debates on the Future of Europe, students from the Institute of European Studies (IEE-ULB) and the Department of European Politics and Governance at the College of Europe have worked together throughout the academic year to analyse some of the most pressing challenges facing the European Union.

Coordinated by SAIES, an IEE-ULB student association, this initiative brings together students from both institutions to engage in critical reflection and dialogue on European affairs.

Following meetings in Bruges and Brussels, students identified key policy issues, engaged in discussions with experts from EU institutions and the broader European policy community, and developed evidence-based recommendations in multidisciplinary groups.

The resulting policy briefs reflect the students’ critical thinking, research, and collaborative efforts. They offer innovative perspectives and practical recommendations on a range of European policy challenges.

We congratulate all participating students for their commitment and contribution to the debate on the future of Europe.
